Welcome to our family site!

Some families know a great deal about their roots; others know very little. This site has been created in an attempt to record what I've learned about the Apodaca Family & its history. In these modern times, families tend to be scattered all over the country, if not the world. One of the goals of this web site is to help our family stay connected even though we live far apart.

My name is Francisco J. Apodaca son of Francisco A. Apodaca & grandson of Donato (Aragon) Apodaca of Raton, New Mexico. Most of this information was obtained from researching public records and family baptismal records. My father started this project many years ago (back in the 60's) tracing records of the family at the Library of Congress & researching old census records from the National Archives. Some of the most recent information was gathered from the records kept by the Mormons at their Geneology Center near their temple in Maryland. In the course of doing putting together this information, I've discovered that I have more relatives than I ever thought possible!

This is a work in progress, so please contact me if you have any information that might help complete the picture.

Acknowledgments

Special thanks go to my father, Francisco A. Apodaca who has done most of the grunt work reaseaching the Apodaca Family.

I would also like thank my Grandfather Donato & Grandmother Nemecia (maiden name Ortiz). Without them, none of this would be possible. I still remember vividly the stories he told me of growing-up in New Mexico (USA) & of his job on the Santa Fe railroad as a machinist. Even though to many of the younger Apodaca generation this may have seemed such hard work bringing up eight kids, & two of my grandmothers cousins, they managed to make through life. He was content and at the same time proud of what he had. He also realized that he was more fortunate than many others in the small town of Raton who spent their lives working in the coal mines & he was thankful to the All Mighty for all of that he had.

Please sign my guestbook and let me know what you think of my site.
